Group Field Trips

WELCOME to our exciting field trip experiences!

ABNC offers a wide variety of engaging hands-on STEM educational activities that allow your students to explore, discover and observe the natural world around them. The programs offered are listed below. Click on the program you are interested in to learn more.

If desired, programs may be combined or tailored to create a full-day or specialized experience for your group. To accommodate groups larger than 60, the program or lunch break duration may be increased upon booking. Please contact us to discuss large group or extended program activities and pricing.

SCHEDULING A PROGRAM

Reservations

Field trips can be scheduled for Monday - Friday from 9:00am-3:00pm.

Reservations must be made in advance of your planned visit. A deposit is due when registering.

Note that each program reservation requires a minimum of 10 participants.

Call 713 274 2667/2668 to make a reservation for your field trip.

Confirmation

An email will be sent confirming your reservation.

Group coordinators must notify ABNC one week in advance of a scheduled trip to confirm the final number of participants. We are unable to reimburse fees for fewer participants.

If you bring more children than you have reserved space for, payment must be made upon entry of the group.

Program Fees

Program costs vary, but all program fees include general admission. See the links to the various programs or call for cost information. Each group must meet a 10:1 student/chaperone ratio. One chaperone is no charge for 10 students. All others pay the program fee.

Cancellations & Refunds

No refunds unless the Field Trip is cancelled by Armand Bayou Nature Center. (If the Nature Center cancels a program, every effort will be made to reschedule or a refund will be provided.)  Programs are held rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, programs will be modified.

General Guidelines

Chaperone: Chaperones are responsible for the behavior and discipline of their group.

Dress for the weather: Old clothes and shoes are recommended, as students may get dirty. All visitors must wear closed-toed shoes. No sandals, please.

Arrive on time: Plan to arrive 15 minutes before programs begins. Late arrival may result in a condensed or cancelled program. Instructors will meet your group in the ABNC parking lot.

Water: All participants must CARRY a water bottle with them! Do not leave Water on the bus!

Repellents & Sunscreen: Mosquitoes often enjoy tasting nature center visitors. Bring your insect repellent. The Texas sun is strong! Wear sunscreen and/or a hat.

Lunches: The Nature Center provides an area with tables and benches for field trips. Please notify us when you make your reservation if you plan to eat here. We request that you “PACK IT IN” and “PACK IT OUT” after having your lunch.

Special Needs:  ABNC makes every effort to serve students with special needs. Please discuss special needs with ABNC staff at the time of your reservation request.

Nature Center staff and volunteers try to keep field trips as fun and safe as possible, but potential hazards may arise.  By taking a field trip or participating in any other Armand Bayou Nature Center activities, participants agree to hold the Armand Bayou Nature Center harmless for any injuries or damage that may arise.

TEKS

Programs are adjusted to be age appropriate. All programs address the TEKS goal of engaging students in hands-on investigations of the natural world. For specific, grade-level TEKS that may be included in our programs, see our TEKS chart below.
